A farmer discovered two pots containing gold and silver ornaments while ploughing his agricultural field in Sulthanpur in Vikarabad district on Wednesday.

A total of 25 gold and silver ornaments, weighing nearly 1 kg, were found inside the pots.

Mohammed Siddiqui had bought a parcel of land in the village around two years ago.

As the rainy season was likely to set in within a few days, he wanted to level the front yard of his house so that water would not collect there.

Subsequently, he started digging his field to move the earth. It was then that he stumbled upon the treasure.

Soon, news spread in the village about the artefacts and locals started descending on his home to take a look at them.

The pots contained almost 25 ornaments, including chains, rings, anklets and traditional utensils.

Mandal Revenue Officer Vidyasagar Reddy said, “The village does not have any historical significance. We will inform the Archeology Department about the findings.”
