Former Union Minister and Veteran Congress Leader Veerappa Moily Declares Retirement from Active Politics

Senior Congress leader, former Union Minister, and Ex-Chief Minister of Karnataka, 84-year-old Veerappa Moily has announced his retirement from active politics. The Congress leader was aspiring for a Lok Sabha ticket from Chikkaballapura. However, the party chose Raksha Ramaiah. Moily assured to work for Chikkaballapura Lok Sabha candidate Raksha Ramaiah. While speaking with Media he said, "He would work for Ramaiah as a committee Congress worker." 

Moily, who served as Karnataka Chief Minister from November 1992 to December 1994 announced his retirement at Chikkaballapura. He also served as the Union cabinet minister in the Manmohan Singh-led-Congress government in 2012. Moily also penned several novels, plays, and poems. He is the recipient of the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award in 2020. Moily was a union minister in the UPA-2 government holding various portfolios including petroleum and natural gas.
