Haryana Police on Monday arrested a Polish national named Patryak from Gurugram and recovered 345 grams of opium and 4.285 kg charas from his possession.

Haryana Police on Monday arrested a Polish national named Patryak from Gurugram and recovered 345 grams of opium and 4.285 kg charas from his possession.

Patryak allegedly failed to produce a passport and Visa upon interrogation.

"A team of DLF Phase-1 police station, during patrolling, spotted two suspicious youth, who suddenly started run away after seeing police. The alert policemen chased and nabbed one person at a short distance whereas another youth managed to escape after throwing a bag," a spokesperson for the police department said.

According to police, during preliminary interrogation, arrested accused revealed that he had come to India on tourist visa 7-8 months ago. He came to know that there are many places in Himachal Pradesh where intoxicants are available at cheap rates.

"He went to Kullu in Himachal Pradesh. He stayed there in different places. During this period, he came in contact with Kazi, a resident of Kullu (the accused who had managed to flee) who is also addicted to drugs. Arrested accused is a musician and performs in parties. In Delhi, he has performed live music in many parties," said the police department spokesperson.

When all his money was spent, his partner told him that they can earn more money by the sale of narcotics in Delhi at an expensive price to meet their expenses.

A case under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS) and Foreigners Act has been registered against the accused foreign national.

Efforts are on to nab another accused and further investigation is underway.
