Laxmi Ratan Shukla resigns from Mamata Banerjee's TMC

The Trinamool Congress party has faced another setback as West Bengal Minister-of-State, Department of Youth Services and Sports Laxmi Ratan Shukla on Tuesday resigned from his post. Shukla a former cricketer was the Sports Minister in the West Bengal. However, he is still a Trinamool Congress MLA. According to sources, Lakshmi Ratan Shukla wants to quit politics. Apart from being a minister, he has also resigned from the post of TMC district president of Howrah.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee reacted to Shukla's resignation saying,"Anyone can resign. He (Laxmi Ratan Shukla) wrote in his resignation letter that he wants to give more time to sports and will continue as an MLA.  Don't take it in a negative way"

Lakshmi Ratan Shukla has played three ODIs for India. He has also played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. He entered politics before the last assembly elections. He also became an MLA from North Howrah, Bengal. He was later made Sports Minister in the Mamata government.
