Prime Minister Narendra Modi rememberes Bal Thackeray on his 94th birth anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his Twitter handle to pay his tribute to Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray on his 94th birth anniversary. “Tributes to the great Balasaheb Thackeray on his jayanti. Courageous and indomitable, he never hesitated from raising issues of public welfare,” PM Modi tweeted. Former Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis also paid  tribute to Bal Thackeray. 

Fadnavis wrote, “Strict but loving, encouraging and energetic, Hindu hriday samrat and Shiv Sena Pramukh. The thoughts of Shiv Sena chief Vandana Balasaheb Thackeray will always guide us.”Bal Thackeray was born in Pune on 23rd January 1923. He began his career as a cartoonist in the Free Press Journal in Bombay. Thackeray died on November 17th as a result of a cardiac arrest. Prime Minister Modi's tribute to Bal Thackeray comes amid major ideological differences between the BJP and its former ally Shiv Sena.
