30 crore people likely to lose their jobs by June due to coronavirus pandemic

The international Labor Organization on Wednesday warned that the global pandemic coronavirus in all probablity will destroy the livelihood of nearly half of the entire global force. As per a report published in Amar Ujala the International Labor Organization, has stated that around 30.5 million people in the world can finish their full-time jobs in just three months from April to June. The organization had said in the previous forecast that the pandemic could lead to the loss of 19.5 million full-time jobs in the June quarter with an average 48-hour work week every week. 

The organization said that the epidemic posed a threat to the livelihood of 1.6 billion workers in the informal sector as their means of livelihood had ceased due to the epidemic. It is about half of the world's 3.3 billion workforce. The unemployment rate has risen to 23.4 percent in India due to the Corona epidemic and lockdown. According to the CMIE report, the lockdown could increase India's urban unemployment rate to 30.9 percent. However, total unemployment is estimated to increase to 23.4 per cent.
