Amidst COVID-19 lockdown government extends special facility to employees earning less than 30,000

The government has taken a special initiative to provide relief to the general public amid ongoing lockdowns to prevent the spread of Corona virus. The Central Government has taken steps to increase the ESIC Scheme. According to CNBC Voice, the government may increase the limit under ESIC to provide medical and case benefits to more low paid employees. The Ministry of Labour has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Finance to increase the current wage limit for coverage. 

According to the  formula, it is proposed to increase the salary limit for employees for the benefit of the scheme. It is proposed to increase the pre-salary limit from Rs. 21,000 to Rs. 30,000 for ESIC.Employees with a gross monthly salary of Rs. 30,000 will get the benefit of ESI coverage. Under the ESIC scheme, if you fall ill, you will get paid protection. This will also reduce the burden on companies. Also, the burden of emergency medical cover on lockdown will be less. At present 12.50 lakh companies are benefiting.
