All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan's father Mashrur Reza has tested positive for coronavirus after being unwell for the past few days. After undergoing tests, the results revealed that he is infected and Shakib’s mother also underwent the test post her husband's diagnosis. Shakib, who has been serving his corruption ban is currently in the U.S. The former skipper is staying with is wife and two kids. Last month, former Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza also tested positive for coronavirus. Nafees Iqbal, elder brother of ODI captain Tamim Iqbal, too, got infected with coronavirus in June.

Due to the coronavirus, all cricketing activities were halted in Bangladesh for four months. At least 14 international matches of Bangladesh have been postponed due to coronavirus including five Tests which are part of the ongoing World Test Championship. According to reports, all matches have been rescheduled. Meanwhile, few players from the team have commenced individual training after a long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 2,618 have with number of active cases jumping to 200,000 in Bangladesh.
