In a huge relief for the Kings XI franchise, Chris Gayle has tested negative for COVID-19 after the left-hander attending Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt's birthday party. Bolt, who recently celebrated his 34th birthday, took to social media on Monday to confirm that he has tested positive for COVID-19. Earlier, Bolt, who is an eight-time Olympic champion, took to social media to give an update regarding his health. As per reports, social distancing guidelines were not followed at Bolt's birthday party, which was attended by several stars including Manchester City star footballer Raheem Sterling.

Gayle last played competitive cricket at the Bangladesh Premier League in January. He was to be part of CPL 2020, but opted out of his stint with St Kitts & Nevis Patriots due to personal reasons.Kings XI's Indian contingent arrived in the UAE last week and are in the midst of their six-day quarantine. Gayle, the highest run-scorer in T20s, is one of the key members of the Punjab franchise along with skipper K. L Rahul. The franchise who are yet to win their first IPL trophy recently appointed Kings XI Punjab as their director of cricket operations. The team has also opted for the services of Jonty Rhodes as the fielding coach and domestic stalwart Wasim Jaffer as the batting consultant for the upcoming season.
