The BCCI  has decided to postpone the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League due to the outbreak of coronavirus. The tournament was earlier scheduled to be held on March 29. The franchises have already being informed about the new date. Speaking to IANS, a BCCI official said that it was decided that the best way forward is to hold the cash-rich league from April 15. "Yes, the internal decision has been made to postpone the start of the tournament and it will begin on April 15, the BCCI has informed the franchises about the same," the official said.
 

The postponement will also allow the foreign players to join the IPL from the start of the tournament.The IPL Governing Council is meeting on March 14 to discuss the way ahead even as the BCCI said the two remaining ODIs of a 3-match series between India and South Africa would be played in front of empty stands. On Friday, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said his government would not allow any IPL matches in the city with large gatherings. Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope had also voiced his concerns over the IPL being held at a time when most of the world was taking extreme precautionary measures.
