With uncertainty looming large over the thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the BCCI is reportedly planning to go all out to make sure that the tournament takes place this year. According to reports, BCCI is planning to host the cash rich league in the month of July or September. As things stand, there is no clarity at all over over whether the competition would start in April. But the BCCI is in no mood to give up on its hopes of conducting the IPL. The Future Tours Programme (FTP) for the year 2020 does give the BCCI a window to host the tournament in July-September. It is reported that BCCI will lose around 10,000 crores if IPL is cancelled.

However, the Asia Cup in September could make things tricky for India who are also set to visit Sri Lanka in June/July for a short ODI and T20I series. The BCCI is currently planning on working out the entire logistics.Cricket has been massively affected by the Coronavirus pandemic as all the international as well as domestic fixtures have been called off. The number of novel coronavirus cases in India rose to 147 with 3 deaths reported so far.
