Renowned Marathi writer Ratnakar Matkari dies of COVID-19 infection


Noted Marathi writer and artist Ratnakar Matkari passed away at Seven Hills Hospital on Sunday night due to COVID-19 infection. His demise has shocked everyone in the world of drama and lierature. The 81-year old was unwell for the past few days and was admitted in Godrej Hospital initially and was later shifted to Seven Hills Hospital. Ratnakar Matkari started writing in 1955 at the tender age of 16 with the play 'Vedi Manasam'. 

The one-act play was aired on All India Radio's Mumbai Center. He wrote in many literary genres such as plays, one-act plays, children's plays, stories, mysteries, novels, fine articles. Matkari has acted in his own plays like Prem Kahani", Vinashakadun Vinashakade", "Lokakatha 78", and Sate Lote. He has also presented popular one man shows like "Adbhutachya Rajyat. As an artist, Matkari prepared drawings for some stage crafts and drapery, and oil paintings for Narmada Andolan.
