The COVID-19 pandemic serves as a grave reminder that health threats can travel swiftly across the globe. However, Tuberculosis (TB) is a global disease, found in every country in the world. It is the leading infectious cause of death worldwide. The World Health Organization estimates that 1.8 billion people are infected with TB.

TB is an airborne disease that can be spread by coughing or sneezing and is the leading cause of infectious disease worldwide. Among the most vulnerable are women, children, and those with HIV/AIDS. TB, is a bacterial infection that can spread through the air. It is most often found in the lungs, but can exist in any organ in your body. When a person coughs or sneezes, they can transmit so-called “active” TB. However, many people are also infected with an inactive form of TB, known as latent TB.

In India alone, the deadly disease inflicts almost 9 lakh people in the country annually. More than 3,00,000 persons perish from the disease every year. Over 23 lakh people are suffering from the disease in the country. The Government has laiunched many campaigns and roped in renowned faces to campaign for the same. The government also launched a nationwide “TB Harega, Desh Jeetega” campaign, featuring Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan which is widely played at public places to raise awareness about the deadly disease.
