Oxford COVID-19 vaccine shows positive results with good immunity response

In a major development the human dosage of coronavirus vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and backed by AstraZeneca Plc has shown a positive result. Officially known as AZD1222, the vaccine has prompted a protective immune response in hundreds of people who got the shot, according to a report published in British medical journal Lancet.

Richard Horton, the editor of the science journal The Lancet, said that the vaccine is found to be "safe" and "well-tolerated". "The vaccine is safe, well-tolerated, and immunogenic. Congratulations to Pedro Folegatti and colleagues. These results are extremely encouraging," he tweeted.  British researchers first began testing the vaccine in April in about 1,000 people, half of whom got the experimental vaccine. The Oxford vaccine candidate is believed to be leading the race among over 100 such candidates to find effective protection against the deadly disease.
