Amit Deshmukh: State needs extra testing kits as it has highest COVID-19 cases

Maharashtra is the one of the worst hit state by coronavirus. The state has highest number of patients infected by the deadly virus. 

In a bid to curb the spread of the disease state Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh on Monday emphasized on the need for extra testing kits in the state as it has highest number of COVID-19 patients in the country.

The total number of cases in Maharashtra has risen to 8590 cases with 206 patients cured.

Responding to a query on the spike, Deshmukh said, "It is true that the numbers are rising steeply. We want more kits to test as many people as possible for coronavirus. There are 40 labs in the state and we are increasing it to 60. Then we can increase the number of tests from the 7,000 we do on an average daily."
