Big news! Railways increases platform ticket rate to Rs 50 at key stations in MMR

Central Railway has taken a strange decision to avoid the crowd on the platform in view of the rising covid-19 cases. Central Railway has now increased the price of platform tickets by 5 times at major railway stations in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR Region). Therefore, a platform ticket that used to cost Rs 10 will now cost Rs 50.

Central Railway has taken this step to avoid crowding on platforms during the summer season in view of the increasing number of corona cases.

Platform tickets at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Thane, Kalyan, Panvel and Bhiwandi Road in Mumbai will now cost Rs 50.

The new platform ticket rates will remain in place till June 15. In the month of May, Mumbai and surrounding railway stations are crowded for trains going out of the city. Therefore, considering the Coronavirus period, the ticket price has been increased to avoid congestion, said Central Railway.
