COVID-19: Latur district to go under lockdown from July 15 to 30,

In a view to curb the spread of COVID-19, Latur district in Maharashtra will be under lockdown from July 15 to 30, district guardian minister Amit Deshmukh said on Sunday. The district has so far reported 682 coronavirus positive cases and 33 deaths.

A district official said many relaxations were given under 'Unlock 2.0' during which outsiders from red zones entered the district, fuelling the rise in COVID-19 cases.

"Considering the rising numbers of coronavirus cases in the district, a decision has been taken to re-impose the lockdown from July 15 to 30," Deshmukh said.

“The lockdown will start from July 15 midnight and end on July 30. The essential and emergency services will continue to operate. However, liquor shops will be shut from Monday itself,” Collector G Shreekant said.

“The lockdown will be strict and the fine for not following the norms is higher than what was during the previous lockdown,” Shreekant said.
