COVID-19: Maharashtra govt extends lockdown till Nov 30

The Maharashtra government on Thursday extended the ongoing lockdown till November 30 as the covid cases in the state continue to rise.

Maharashtra has been the worst affected stated by covid-19 in the nation. The state government said that the phase-wise opening of activities will "remain in force till 30 November, 2020 for containment of COVID- I 9 epidemic in the state and all departments of government of Maharashtra shall strictly implement these guidelines."

Currently the state has allowed hotels, food courts, restaurants and bars to resume operations at a capacity not exceeding 50%. However, schools, colleges and other educational and coaching institutions are closed.

Since June 15, the state and the railway authorities have resumed limited number of special suburban trains for people employed in emergency services.

Maharashtra government has requested the railways to resume local train services for the general public. In the letter, the government proposed the opening in a staggered manner in view of the pandemic.
