Amid the massive surge in COVID-19 cases in the state, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that possibility of lockdown cannot be ruled out if the current coronavirus situation prevails while cautioning that the state may fall short of healthcare infrastructure in the next 15 to 20 days.

"I cannot rule out imposing a lockdown if the current COVID19 situation prevails. People have become complacent," Thackeray said after he held a crucial meeting to review the Covid-19 situation in the state.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is being targeted by the opposition, general public, entrepreneurs, traders and even by netizens, due to the growing number of covid cases in the state. The Chief Minister is being strongly criticized by the opposition. However, Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad wrote an emotional post saluting Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's work.

The prevalence of corona in Maharashtra is increasing day by day. Against this backdrop, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray interacted with the public through Facebook Live. He attacked political opponents for threatening protests against lockdown, saying they should be helping the administration tackle the crisis instead. The Chief Minister also targeted  political parties and an industrialist – he did not name anyone – who has spoken against the lockdown in the last few days and suggested that instead, the government should upgrade health infrastructure.

Home Minister Jitendra Awhad appreciated the work of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. He wrote,"His wife is in the hospital, son is also fighting with Covid. Still, this man is patiently managing Maharashtra. It's easy to criticize. But it is difficult to be Uddhav Thackeray. Even though he has many stents in his heart, the manner in which the Chief Minister Hon. Uddhavji Thackeray manages Maharashtra ..Salute !Salute !! Salute !!!"
