The Maharashtra government on Tuesday announced that it will begin bringing back citizens of the state stranded due to the nationwide lockdown and travel restrictions in place in various countries.

Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on his Twitter handle announced, "If you are from Maharashtra & are stranded abroad, we request you to fill the form linked below. The State will pass this information & coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs to facilitate your return as soon as the restrictions are lifted."

The tweet said, "If you are from Maharashtra and are stranded abroad for some reason, please fill this form so that we can facilitate your return back to India."

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had informed on Monday that the government is set to facilitate the return of the thousands of Indians stranded in foreign lands in a phased manner from May 7.
