Maharashtra: CM orders BMC to be prepared for second wave of COVID-19 outbreak

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday conducted a review meeting with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials in order to curb the coronavirus spread in Mumbai along with the outbreak of monsoon-related diseases.

Thackeray while talking to the BMC officials via video conferencing said that there are chances of a second wave of the deadly virus outbreak world over and ordered officials to be more cautious. He also appreciated the work of the BMC for its work to contain the deadly virus and asked them to continue the same.

The number of covid cases are although increasing, Thackeray said that Mumbai was working hard to contain the spread of COVID-19. He added that the World Health Organisation (WHO) has taken note of containment of coronavirus in Mumbai.

“Predictions are being made worldwide regarding the second wave of coronavirus. However, the second wave will only come when we become oblivious. So, let us be more cautious and try to reduce the number of patients,”CM said. 

CM further said that the coronavirus is rapidly spreading in rural areas of the state. Orders have been given to the administration to set up healthcare facilities in the rural areas, Thackeray said. He added that there are several things to be achieved in terms of healthcare facilities until the vaccine arrives.
