Maharashtra: Couple reschedules wedding in view of Janta curfew

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases in India rose to 271 on Saturday, according to ICMR.

During the times of social distancing to prevent the spread of coronavirus, a couple from Thane, Maharashtra tied the knot in the presence of only a handful of relatives and friends, all wearing masks.

The marriage was solemnised at the groom’s house at Kalyan in the district on Friday.

The wedding was earlier scheduled to take place on March 22, but in view of the ‘Janata curfew’ to be observed on that day, they decided to reschedule the event.

Amid the virus scare the Indian government has asked people to maintain social distancing. PM Modi has said that the next 3-4 weeks are crucial in efforts to contain the spread of the virus and the most important measure for containment is 'social distancing'.

PM has announced 'Janta Curfew’ to be observed this Sunday i.e, on 22nd March 2020. The move is aimed at encouraging public to stay indoors and maintain social distancing, which is essential in the fight against Covid-19.
