Marathi film 'Court' actor Vira Sathidar dies due to COVID-19

Vira Sathidar, the lead actor of internationally acclaimed Marathi film 'Court' and a well-known rebel Ambedkarite activist, died today while battling covid-19 infection. He was undergoing treatment at the AIIMS in Nagpur for a few days now. Veera was vaccinated against corona on March 19 after which he contracted the virus.

Born into a very poor family in a village in Wardha district, Veera spent his life in struggle. Veera, who came to Nagpur for work, was associated with the Ambedkar movement. He was actively involved in hundreds of movements. He had a personality of a rebel activist.

Chaitanya Tamhane, the director of Court, told the Indian Express, “Right now I am shocked and totally speechless. He was one of the nicest people I have met and we were blessed to have him as the face of Court. I am still processing the news, it is just extremely sad.”
