In Mumbai the number of coronavirus cases are is increasing rapidly. Even in the areas where the number of cases were initially low in Mumbai, has now increased.

The number of coronavirus patients in Chembur area under M West ward has now crossed 1000 mark. Of these, 78 have lost their lives.

This has created an atmosphere of fear among the people of Chembur. As the number of cases in Chembur area is increasing, the municipal administration is facing difficulty to prevent the spread of the disease. Just like Dharavi, Chembur also has densely populated areas. The disease has entered the slum area because of which the cases are rising rapidly.

As more than 200 patients have been found in Lokhande Marg so far, the area has become a hotspot for coronavirus. Similarly, patients have been found in Sindhi Camp, Ghatla, Laldongar, Suman Nagar, Siddharth Colony, Sindhi Society, Konkan Nagar and Shell Colony of Chembur. Also people are not following the lockdown rules properly. People in the hotspot areas have been spotted walking on the road, not keeping a safe distance and not wearing a mask which is likely to increase the risk of corona infection in these areas. Municipal administration and police are appealing to the citizens of Chembur to be more careful.
