Mumbai: Dharavi reports zero fresh COVID-19 cases

The Dharavi locality in Mumbai reported zero COVID-19 cases today, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation informed on Monday.

On April 8, Dharavi reported highest-ever single-day spike of 99 cases since the second wave hit the country in late February this year.

Dharavi, known to be Asia's largest slum, houses over 8 lakh people in a densely populated area.

In the first wave of COVID-19, the Dharavi model of fighting the pandemic was acknowledged and appreciated worldwide.

On December 25 last year, Dharavi reported zero fresh COVID cases.

Cases in Maharashtra have also come down significantly, the number of fresh cases remained below the 15,000 level, dipping from 10,697 on Saturday to 10,442, as the total tally zoomed to 59,08,992 now.
