Mumbai Lockdown: Nightclubs in Mumbai to shutdown amid COVID-19 surge, hints Aslam Shaikh

The number of COVID-19 cases have been surging in Mumbai and Thane for the past few weeks. In Mumbai, more than 1000 new corona cases are being reported on a daily basis.Therefore, it is likely that some strict restrictions will be imposed in the city soon.

This was also hinted at by Mumbai's Guardian Minister Aslam Shaikh. On Tuesday, Shaikh has made an important statement about 'night clubs' in Mumbai. Nightclubs in Mumbai have been repeatedly accused of flouting the Corona Prevention Act.

Aslam Shaikh has hinted that nightclubs in Mumbai may be closed soon. Shaikh also said that if the rate of increase in the number of patients remains the same, a decision may be taken to impose night curfew in the city.The local administration has been ordered to impose strict restrictions on areas where corona cases are on the rise.

"People who do not wear masks are being caught. It may be decided to close crowded places like Chowpatty and Gateway," he said.

Amid the rise in COVID-19 cases, Thane Municipal Corporation on Tuesday imposed a lockdown at 16 hotspot areas from today till March 31.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra reported 8,744 new COVID-19 cases, 9,068 recoveries, and 22 deaths in the last 24 hours, the State Health Department informed on Monday.
