Pune: Doorstep delivery of medicines during 21 days of COVID-19 lockdown

In the wake of 21-day nationwide lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus, representatives of the pharmacists’ association on Thursday agreed to release a WhatsApp number for facilitating free door-step delivery of medicines to dissuade people from moving around with old prescriptions to justify their presence on the road. Policemen enforcing the lock-down orders pointed out that vehicle users were showing them old medical prescriptions to be on the road.

Joint commissioner of Pune police Ravindra Shisve said, “A person in need of medicines can send his or her prescription along with the name and address to the WhatsApp number. The order so placed will be forwarded to the area distributor who will send a delivery boy to the person’s home for handing over the medicines free of charge.”
