Amid surging COVID-19 infections, Maharashtra is facing covid vaccine shortage in the state. Vaccination has been at many places in Maharashtra due to shortage of vaccine doses. Maharashtra continues to report the highest number of daily cases in the country. The state on Friday reported 58,993 new cases of coronavirus, which pushed its overall tally to 32,88,540, while the death of 301 patients took the toll to 57,329, the state health department said.

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Thursday said that instead of supplying vaccines to other countries, supply them to our own states first. Maharashtra wants at least 40 lakh vaccine dosages every week, he said.

Amid shortage of vaccine in the state, Swabhimani Shetkari Saghtana leader Raju Shetti on Saturday warned the Centre and said, I've written to PM, HM & Health Minister stating that if supply of vaccines is not increased for Maharashtra within a week, we will start stopping vehicles transporting vaccines to other states from Serum Institute of India."
