Vasai: Man stabs neighbor for stepping out to get food packet from NGO

The coronavirus lockdown has left many daily wage workers are starving. In a shocking incident that occured at Vasai east area on Saturday, a 35 year old man was assaulted by his neighbor when he stepped out of house to collect food packets from an NGO. The man identified himself as Mohammed Shaikh, a carpenter, without a job due to lockdown.

The neighbor attacked Shaikh with a sharp weapon for stepping out of his house. Shaikh, sustained head injuries and is recuperating at home. Subhash Tripath (57) was booked by Valiv police for “voluntarily causing hurt”. No arrest was made. Shaikh, a resident of Om Mangalam chawl, Boidapada, said he had been getting khichdi from an NGO nearby. Shaikh stays with wife Aasma and four minor children.
