Coronavirus: Shocking! 850 doses of Remdesivir stolen from government hospital

Amid the surge in covid cases in the country, patients are struggling to find beds in hospitals also there is shortage of Remdesivir injection used to treat covid patients. Relatives of COVID-19 patients in Pune on Thursday staged sit-in protest outside Collector's office demanding the supply of anti-viral drug Remdesivir, also used for the treatment of coronavirus.

In wake of a sudden spike in demand due to surge in coronavirus cases across the country, there is black marketing and hoarding of anti-viral drug Remdesivir used in Covid-19 treatment, 

Amid the shortage, a shocking incident of theft of Remdesivir injection has now come to light. The theft of 850 doses of remedicivir injection from a government hospital in Bhopal has caused a stir. The second covid wave has hit the country with the maximum cases being reported from Maharashtra. 

In Nagpur, police have arrested two persons for black-marketing of Remedisivir. In addition, it has been revealed that Remedisivir injection was stolen from Hamidi Government Hospital in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

The injections had arrived at the hospital a few days ago. The hospital administration had stored the stock for use. However, on Saturday morning when a team of doctors looked for vials to administer them to patients, the box was found missing. The injections were stolen by breaking the windows of the room where the vials were stored. It is suspected that the hospital staff helped the thieves. Regarding this the police is checking the CCTV footage is being investigated by Kohefiza police. The shortage of Remdesivir had made headlines and recently these injections were sent to Bhopal and other districts.
