COVID-19: Covaxin for children above 2 yrs to be available by September

The second wave of corona in the country seems to be waning. However, the third wave of corona has been repeatedly warned by experts. The government has already started preparations in this regard. More and more emphasis is being placed on vaccination for corona control. The third wave of corona could have a greater impact on young children, experts say. In that context, Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director, Delhi AIIMS Hospital, has given important information about vaccination for children.

Considering the threat of corona, trials of vaccine on young children have been started in some parts of the country. The central government is working to protect children from the third wave of corona. AIIMS Patna and Delhi are testing Covaxin vaccine on children between the ages of 2 and 12. DCGI had approved Bharat Biotech for Phase II and III tests on children.

Speaking about this, Dr. Randeep Guleria said the data would be available by September after testing of phases II and III of the Covaxin. Also, if Pfizer-Biotech is approved in India, it could be an alternative to the children's vaccine. Dr Guleria also said that there was no data available in India or internationally that children would be infected in the next wave of corona.
