COVID-19: COVID-19 claims will be approved within 60 minutes

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has provided big relief for covid patients. Any health insurance claim related to Corona has been ordered to be approved in just 60 minutes.

The Delhi High Court had on Thursday passed the order to the IRDAI in a case. The Delhi High Court has directed the IRDAI to immediately order insurance companies to communicate their cashless approvals within a maximum time period of 30 to 60 minutes so that there is no delay in discharge of patients.

The IRDAI then issued an order to all the companies to approve the cashless claim within 60 minutes of the submission of all the documents after the corona patient was admitted to the hospital.The High Court order will be a great relief to all Corona patients. This will also reduce the problem of hospital beds.

This will make it easier to discharge patients and admit new patients. The hospital bed can be quickly made available to another waiting patient.

The insurers have also been asked to issue appropriate directions to their respective Third Party Administrators (TPAs) for ensuring compliance with the timelines.
