COVID-19: JEE Mains 2020 & NEET exams likely to be postponed

In view of the increasing coronavirus cases in the country, a lot of parents and guardians of the students have written to the Union Human Resource Development Ministry that along with holding of the remaining examinations of CBSE in the month of July, JEE Mains and NEET Exams should also be postponed.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday said the number of Covid-19 cases could surge to 5.5 lakh by July 31.The petitioners raised concerns regarding safety of the students who, they submitted, would be exposed to COVID-19 if they were to appear for the exam.

At present, the ministry has asked the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the National Testing Agency (NTA) to be prepared for the possible changes as per the situation.

A senior official of the Union Human Resource Development Ministry told Lokmat that it is common for parents to express concern about the health of students. But given the way the threat of Covid-19 cases are increasing, the appeal of the parents cannot be ignored.
