COVID-19 UP: CM Yogi orders to take action against hospital citing oxygen shortage

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed hospitals in state to keep their mouth shut regarding oxygen shortage. If the hospitals fail to keep their mouth shuts then they might have to face action by the state adminitration.

During an online meeting the state CM asked senior administrative and police officers, including divisional commissioners and inspectors-general, to take strong action against hospitals who are discharging patients due to oxygen shortage or complain to the media about the crisis, a senior health department official said.

“He (Adityanath) said there is no scarcity of oxygen in Uttar Pradesh. He said the government was ensuring the availability of the gas at every public and private hospital, but its misuse has to be stopped,” added the official.

Adityanath on Monday directed officers to ensure that no government or private hospital denies admission to COVID-19 patients if beds are available at these hospitals."The government has asked all hospitals with 100 beds or more to set up their own oxygen plants. This would reduce their dependence on liquid oxygen to a great extent," it said.

Many hospitals in the state have put up notices declaring an oxygen shortage and advising families of Covid patients to shift them elsewhere.

Uttar Pradesh currently has 2,97,616 active COVID-19 cases.
