Mumbai locals to run few rounds on account of 'Janta Curfew'

No passenger train will originate from any railway station in the country from midnight to 10 pm on Sunday in view of the "Janta curfew" announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to a railway order issued on Friday.

At the same time, 4000 trains will be closed across the country. It includes 2400 passenger and 1300 long distance trains. The trains will be closed from 8am to 5pm on Sunday. All railway departments have been informed about this, an official said.

It stated that mail and express trains will also stop services from 4 am to 10 pm on Sunday while all suburban train services will be reduced to a bare minimum as well.

Suburban services in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Secunderabad shall be reduced to bare minimum level only to cater to essential travel.

Mumbai has a different schedule for Sunday. Also some services will be canceled during the megablock. The Central Railway will announce on Saturday how many rounds of locals on Main, Harbor, Trans Harbour and Western Railway will be cancelled. IRCTC has also decided to shut down the food plaza, refreshment room, Janaahar, cell kitchen till further notice.
