Animals testing positive for COVID-19 is not new but in a bizarre development, a fruit has tested positive for the virus in Tanzania.

To check the efficacy of COVID-19 test the government had randomly obtained several non-human samples, including that from a pawpaw fruit, a goat and a sheep which had been assigned human names and ages

These samples were then sent to Tanzania’s laboratory for testing the presence of coronavirus, with the lab technicians were unaware of their origins.

Interestingly the pawpaw fruit and the goat tested positive. The president of Tanzania then went on record to say that the test kits were faulty. All the COVID-19 testing kits in question by Tanzania have been imported from other countries.

The Tanzanian government is under fire for being secretive on the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

Samples from the pawpaw and the goat tested positive for COVID-19 in the test done by the laboratory which meant it was likely that some people were being tested positive when in fact they were not infected by the coronavirus, said the president.

“There is something happening. I said before we should not accept that every aid is meant to be good for this nation,”

Magufuli said, adding the kits should be put under immediate investigation.

This is the first time that a fruit has tested positive for coronavirus ever since the pandemic began last year in China.

Meanwhile, this confusion has led to the fact that many people in Tanzania are not corona positive but we should test it again, claims President Magufuli.

A total of 480 people have been tested positive for COVID-19 with 17 people reported to be dead.

Meanwhile, President Magufuli has announced that he is sending a special plane to bring herbal medicines from Madagascar for the treatment of coronavirus
