Coronavirus: CISF plans post-lockdown safety measures for airports and Delhi Metro

The whole country is under lockdown till May 3 to prevent spread of coronavirus. Public transport services have been closed for more than 40 days due to lockdown in the country. On April 14, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced to extend the lockdown in the country.

With indications emerging that aviation and Metro train services may be first modes of transport to resume after lockdown, CISF has formulated post-lockdown safety measures.

The CISF has prepared a blueprint for the Delhi Metro, which has been sent to the DMRC and the Ministry of Urban Development. When the Delhi Metro is in operation, passengers will have to remove metal items (belts, purses, etc.) before entering for inspection.

It will be mandatory to wear a mask in the metro. The Arogya Setu app must be installed in mobile. Passengers with flu symptoms will not be allowed to travel.

The plan states, "The Arogya Setu App with inbuilt e-pass facility can be used to identify suspicious individuals (COVID-19 infection). High-risk individuals should be prevented from using the metro."

Each station will have a system of thermal scanning before entering.

After the lockdown, CISF personnel will be deployed at special places at the airport, also PPE kits will be arranged for them.

Social distance should be strictly followed at the airport. Passengers will be asked to arrive at the airport 2 hours earlier.

The proposal, sent to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, is aimed at preventing overcrowding at the airport.

According to the plan made by the CISF, about 12,000 women and men personnel shall be deployed to protect over 160 metro stations to restart Delhi Metro providers.
