Coronavirus: Opening of liquor stores celebrated in India with prayers, aarti, and bursting of crackers

Liquor shops have been opened in other states, including the capital Delhi, since Monday booze lovers welcomed the opening of shops with prayers flowers and even 'aarti'.

Following the order of the Excise Department on Sunday, permission has been granted to open 150 liquor shops in Delhi.

These shops will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

As liquor shops open in the morning, long queues of people have formed in many cities.

At the same time, people are so anxious to buy liquor in Delhi that huge crowds have been seen in Sant Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Burari etc. areas of Delhi since morning.

Police had to be called to control the overflowing crowd for alcohol in many parts of the state.

So much crowd gathered outside a liquor shop in Chandra Nagar that the shop had to be closed.

On Sunday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said that it was time to reopen Delhi and people must be prepared to live with the coronavirus.

An hour before the sales were to resume, a few people burst crackers in celebration. An elderly woman Dakamma was the centre of attraction in Shivamogga. The bent body did not bend the determination of this spirited lady, claimed to be 96-year-old, who was heard saying "liquor is good for health."
