Aurangabad, June 19:A conman posing as a Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) officer duped a retired BSNL officer of Rs 1,21,018 through an online system asking him to download a mobile application for updating the KYC information. The incident occurred on June 15, while a case has been registered at the Pundliknagar police station in this regard.Complainant Ramesh Ramrao Deshmukh (67, Shivajinagar Road) is a retired BSNL officer. On June 15, he received a call on his mobile phone at around 8 pm, and the man on the phone told him that he is calling from the BSNL office. He told Deshmukh that his KYC information has to be updated, for which he will have to provide the bank details, and then he will have to download a mobile application. Accordingly, Deshmukh completed all the procedures and sent Rs 10 to the account. However, Rs 1,21,018 were deducted from two different SBI and Bank of Badoda accounts. He received messages of withdrawal on his phone. Deshmukh, when realiazed that he has been taken for a ride lodged a complaint at the Pundliknagar police station. Police are further investigating the case.
