NetworkAurangabad, May19:The doctor ofthe Krushna Hospital, Dr Pradeep Benjarge, at Rokadiya Hanuman Colony, wasbeaten recently. A delegation of doctors led by Indian Medical Association(IMA) Aurangabad branch president Dr Santosh Ranjalkar and secretary Dr YashwantGade met the commissioner of police Dr Nikhil Gupta and demanded strict actionagainst the accused.Dr Gupta assuredthe delegation that a charge sheet will be submitted against the accused in 15days. Similarly, the phone numbers of the concerned police stations will behighlighted in the Covid Hospitals while the information about the Corona patientsbeing treated will be given to the concerned police stations. Similarly, apolice team will visit the Covid hospitals every day, Dr Gupta assured.Dr PradeepBenjarge, Dr Anant Kulkarni and others were present. The delegation requestedthe commissioner to investigate the matter under the sections of the Actregarding the Attacks of Doctors, 2010 and Epidemic Orders, 2020 and submit thecharge sheet at the earliest.Considering thespread of Corona pandemic in the prisons, the court has issued guidelines thatthe accused in the matter in which the imprisonment is less than seven yearsshould not be arrested. Hence, the accused in the attack of Dr Benjarge casehave not been arrested, informed Dr Gade.
