Aurangabad, Feb 5: The Duathlon event organised by Get Going organisation got an enthusiastic start today. Municipal administrator Astik Kumar Pandey flagged off the offline programme here in the presence of industrialist Sandip Singh and Parleen Singh.Due to Covid situation, the event was inaugurated with the limited presence of organisers and participants at Vasantrao Naik Square at 6 am. Other participants took part in the event virtually from Aurangabad and globally.Pandey praised Get Going for its efforts to create awareness in eco-friendly and fitness-friendly initiatives. Broad roads, tall buildings and costly cars do not define a city's status. The lifestyle of common citizens defines it, he mentioned.MLA Atul Save said that good health habits and fitness regime can keep health issues away. Running and cycling are the best types of exercises.Gate Going, which works to promote women's health, empowerment and dignity, organised Mrs Food Rite Duatholon to mark its 10th Foundation Day.Due to Covid, the Duathlon will take place virtually between February 5 and 7. 'Run for her' and 'Ride for her' are the mottos for this Dualthon this year, which will consist of a competition for running and cycling, which are core exercises. The running event will be in two categories of 5 km and 10 km respectively, while the cycling event consists of 10 km and 20 km stretches. The first category of Duathlon will be 10 km cycling and 5 km running and the second category will be 20 km cycling and 10 km running.Members of Get Going Dr Uma Mahajan, Dr Niti Soni, Dr Santosh Totla, Dr Priya Deshmukh, Dr Bhavana Lohia, Dr Sujata Lahoti, Dr Charushila Deshmukh, Dr Sangita Deshpande, Neena Nikalje, Deepa Dabri, Dr Vandana Mishra, Nirupama Nagori, Aarati Agarwal and others took efforts for the success of the event.
